A striking profile. Just like daddy.

Cristobal and Sunshine
We were bracing ourselves for reported hurricane Cristobal this weekend, but all we got in our area was some rain (thank goodness) and not very much. Here's what we saw on the news:

But here is what the weather was like when we went hiking on Sunday at Falls Lake State Park:

Rextacy by the lake.

Only showing a little bit.
We had a really nice hike while the coast got lots of rain and wind. Nothing serious. On Saturday (going back a day) we organized the office. There were boxes and things everywhere from the move. It's all clean now. It feels great to be able to walk around in the office without tripping on something. It's like a TV makeover show.

Shhh. We're not from around here.

Cowboy on a cell phone.

The band played on.

End of a great day.

Eno River Weekend
Wow, that weekend seemed to whiz by pretty fast. Rex worked a few hours Saturday & Sunday on a paper that he and his (former) professor hope to have published in a science journal. We went on a very pretty hike by a river called the Eno River. That was our second time there and this time we saw some thing pretty spectacular. We saw a copperhead snake eating a catfish in the shallows of the river. We are still debating if it was actually a copperhead or a water moccasin, none the less, a very surprising find on an otherwise quite hike. Many people stopped to watch and take pictures. I will ad some photos later to this post. We mostly did our shopping for the week and watched movies. I am feeling really good and still looking forward to getting my first real first trimester check up in one week. I think they should let you in sooner than 8 weeks in, but they're the experts. I'll ad a little more to this post during the day on Monday. (xoxo)
Update: I thought the photos of the snake eating the fish were a little too creepy for the blog, but Rex drew a great picture. Enjoy.

The circle of life.

Good News!! :)

Surprise!

Really?! Yes, Really!
Rex and I are very excited to tell you that we are pregnant! It was a bit of a surprise, we didn't expect our plans to go in to action so fast. I am 6+ weeks along and feeling good. The weather has cooled off here since June and we go for our hikes every other day. Rex is working hard and comes home for lunch everyday. He works less than a mile from our apartment which has been so nice for both of us.
I'm not sure if I should keep going on this post because I really can't top the first paragraph. How about a picture of what our little guy or gal is looking like right now?

Our little bean.
I've looked and looked at this photo and I have decided two things. First, I'm not sure what an eye spot is, but I'm going to guess and say he or she may have Rex's eyes spots. Very, very handsome!! And second, I'm already a little worried about the teasing at school; there is a label that reads "tail"!
You can call us at (801) 671-6592. We are always happy to hear the familiar voices of those we love. Have a great day!
Bonus Picture: Rex standing next to a phone booth. Remember those?
