Our trip from Texas to North Carolina was an exciting one. We drove it in two days and saw many pretty parts of the country. The cities of Houston and Atlanta are huge! Alabama is very green. Western NC is mountainous and lush.
We did a lot of apartment hunting online before we left Texas so that gave us a sizable list to start from when we arrived in Morrisville, NC. We ended up choosing a great apartment that is less than a mile from Rex's work. The main road has a lot of construction on it right now. He could easily walk to work, but as it stands now there are construction vehicles galore, fast traffic and no side walks. We'll just have to be patient. It's going to be really nice when they finish it.
What is North Carolina like? We are in the middle part of the state. It's flat and forest-y. 2 hours to the east are the beaches and 4 hours to the west are the mountains. It has been mostly in the 80’s and 90’s since we arrived in May, with the exception of 103 degrees in early June. It was a record breaker for the state.
From our apartment we have a pretty forest view. It’s privately owned land and may be developed in the future, but for now it’s just us and the trees. The owls and the frogs make a pretty sound at night.
Here are pictures of the view from our apartment and Rex and Rhonda at the “Belted Goat” farm. (a little attraction about 30 minutes from us.) Oh, and one picture of how the apartment looked in May, until the movers came.
We are thinking of our family and friends and miss you very much!
