New Tech Old Tech

Have you ever wondered what Rextacy does with his Saturday mornings? I'm sure that you have and to satisfy your curiosity, here is a picture. Here we see the Rex in his natural habitat amongst many computers, typing away. "00110010011!" Shhhh. Don't spook him.

After computing we went for a hike around Yates Mill pond. The leaves are just starting to turn and the forest smells so good.

The Outer Banks

It's the end of summer. (tear) We decided to take one last summer trip to the beach. North Carolina has a beautiful coast line with light houses and barrier islands and the whole shebang. We got a great deal on a hotel and stayed for two days. We played in the surf and visited a few historical sites. Enjoy the mega picture post!

The Sun Comes Out

Hannah came and went and we went out the very next day. Some spots got a little flooded. We only had to step over a few puddles. Here we are out exploring and canoeing.

Tip Toe Through the Tulip Trees

Rex and I were out and about this weekend. We chose a trail in Chapel Hill that was quite nice. We got caught in a sudden rain storm and had to make a bee-line for the car. We left and went to "Top of the Hill" restaurant for some yummy eats. There were large photos of Michael Jorden on the walls because he used to play for the UNC Tar Heels in Chapel Hill. Maybe he ate there. A brush with greatness.

North Carolina Civil War Players (or The South Has Risen Again)

These are some Civil War reenactors that we saw at a local historic site, Bennett Place where a large Confederate army surrendered at the end of the Civil war. At first glance their uniforms looked somewhat casually thrown together. But actually, these guys are real history buffs and what they are wearing represents meticulous efforts to recreate the irregular uniforms of Confederate soldiers. When they weren’t marching around they gave lessons to onlookers about their costumes and weapons. There was a drum and fife band that played marches from the period. All in all it was an interesting history lesson.
